The Bridal BFF Hearts The Obamas!

Happy Friday bridal besties! October is here! It's my favorite month of the year for many reasons...the weather gets cooler so fashions change (yay to riding boots and hats) and I also celebrate my birthday this month! I can't wait to turn 21 again (wink, wink)!

The other reason why I love this season is because on those cool rainy days when you're stuck in the house, it is the perfect time to catch up on some good reading. I want to recommend the latest book that I've read which is all about America's First Couple. The book, Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage, was penned by author Christopher Andersen and it gives us an intimate look into the union of our President and his fabulous leading lady. The book chronicles how the couple met and the romantic side to their relationship as well as the trials and tribulations that go into making a relationship work. It's interesting to me because, of course, we see people in the public eye in their best light...but Mrs. Obama will be the first to let you know that it wasn't always easy loving our President. Marriage is hard work! It's about love, respect, committment and SACRIFICE! Ladies, I had to bold and underline SACRIFICE because you will learn from this book that even the Obamas had to endure a great deal of give and take in order to reach the level they are at today!

I truly enjoyed learning more about the Obamas. I highly recommend this book to all of my bridal besties! If you've read it, please feel free to leave a comment. I'd love to hear your take on it!

BRIDAL BESTIES! I can't believe I haven't blogged for basically the ENTIRE month of September! Naughty me, huh? I've missed each of you more than you know...but, I'm back! I promise to never leave you hanging for this long again! Apology accepted?

Beantown Brides: Fenway Park Bridal Festival

The Bridal BFF Hearts The Time Traveler's Wife!

I am TOO excited about the Time Traveler's Wife which comes out in theatres TODAY! Yay! I'm halfway through the book so I'm not dragging my guy out to see it just yet...but you can gaurantee that I will be front and center at the movies once I finish this romantically intoxicating novel written by Audrey Niffenegger. And I will definitely have some Kleenex on hand because this is sure to be a tear jerker! Bridal besties, I highly recommend reading this book! It is such a beautiful story.

In a nutshell, The Time Traveler's Wife is a love story about a man (Henry) who has a genetic disorder that causes him to travel back and forth through time and about his wife (Clare) who has to deal with his frequent absences and the instability of their love. Within the first five minutes of reading the book, a powerful quote sets the tone: Love is intensified by absence. Sooooooo true! My guy certainly doesn't travel through time, but I swear that when we are not together, I miss him more than anything. And, even though we are not married, I feel a connection with him that is stronger than many strong feelings that I've felt. Of course we go through our ups and downs (who doesn't), but I can honestly say that I love him so much. And then the book raises the question of how much one person can endure to be with the person they love. Thank goodness for blogs because I can go on and on about how wonderful this book is. It is taking me on an amazing journey!
